Tischler & Patch Dental

Restorative dentistry options can be used to reinforce damaged teeth or to replace missing teeth. In addition to dental implants and dentures, Tischler & Patch Dental offers porcelain crowns and dental bridges. Porcelain crowns may be utilized to protect an individual tooth. Dental bridges can replace one or more missing teeth. Both of these restorative dentistry options are cemented into place, creating "fixed" restorations that restore a natural look, feel, and function. If you are interested in undergoing a restorative dentistry treatment such as the placement of dental bridges or porcelain crowns, contact our office today. We serve patients in Dutchess County, Ulster County, Hudson Valley, and surrounding areas from the convenience of our Woodstock office.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns reinforce weak teeth and mask imperfections in shape and color. When a tooth becomes cracked or decayed, it is more likely to fracture and lose considerable tooth substance. If the fracture goes below the gum line, restoration becomes much more difficult. Porcelain crowns make your teeth more resistant to injury and disease.

At Tischler & Patch Dental, we construct our crowns using metals with the highest content of gold possible. This helps to eliminate the possibility of any kind of allergic or toxic reaction. These metals are then covered with porcelain. Sometimes, the crowns are made entirely of porcelain. (Remember, each dental situation is different and the restorative dentistry treatments and materials we use are determined by what we find when we examine your teeth.)

We try to do all porcelain margins on our crowns for esthetics and the health of the gum. Products such as E Max and Zirconium are our preference because of biocompatability and strength. If we are doing a porcelain and metal crown it is only with high noble metals.

Porcelain crowns are matched to the color, size, and shape of your surrounding teeth, providing a healthy, natural appearance. The crowns are very durable and can last for many years with proper care. To find out if porcelain crowns or another restorative dentistry options are right for you, contact our practice serving Hudson Valley, Ulster County, Dutchess County today.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are simply a combination of two or more crowns that "bridge" the space between your teeth. The most common type of dental bridge, a fixed dental bridge, is cemented to adjacent "abutment" teeth and can only be removed by a dentist. Fixed dental bridges typically consist of a pontic (false tooth), fused between two dental crowns, which are cemented to the abutment teeth.

In addition to fixed bridges, other popular types of dental bridges include resin-bonded, or "Maryland" bridges, which are commonly used to replace missing front teeth, and cantilever bridges, which are used when anchor teeth are only on one side of the span.

If you are missing any teeth, a bridge may be an appropriate treatment option to fill that space. If left unfilled, such a space can allow the surrounding teeth to get out of position, making both your teeth and your gums more susceptible to decay and disease. And of course, a dental bridge will not only improve your ability to chew but it will also help you to maintain a more youthful appearance. With proper care, dental bridges can last 10 years or more.
